How To Make Your Own Natural First Aid Kit

“A natural first aid kit is perfect for emergencies that can help relieve symptoms with things that can come from your backyard.”

Peace!

Herbology and natural remedies have been on my radar for quite some time. I currently grow lavender and aloe, but wish to grow more to create my own natural first aid kit. The preference in our house is to stay as natural as possible with these remedies before we seek outside help. Creating a first aid kit can also help in emergencies before you can get medical treatment.

Of course, I am not in medicine, and these suggestions are for the purpose of information, and not as a replacement for medical help. I am still learning, and of course will try these all myself while also learning more about herbs.

Herbs/Plants For Your Natural First Aid Kit

Yarrow– This can be used for cuts & bleeding situations. This herb is “styptic.” This means that it can help stop the bleeding. You can make an ointment, or put a flower in a water bottle to use on cut before you apply pressure and bandage the wound.

Aloe Vera– Great for burns. I grow a couple of these plants for my hair too. Make sure you remove the outer layer of the plant.

Activated Charcoal- Good for stomach issues, or food poisoning. You can buy capsules or create a paste adding bentonite clay for skin blemishes and for bug bites.

Ginger Capsules– Another great remedy for stomach issues. This can also be used for nausea and morning sickness.

Echinacea– This herb can help boost immunity, which can help keep you from getting sick. You can use for infections, bug bites, allergies, and food poisoning.

Comfrey-Used best a salve, comfrey can help sooth cuts, scraps, bruises, bug bites, and eczema.
Essential Oils For Your Natural First Aid Kit

Essential Oils For Your Natural First Aid Kit

Personally, I use essential oils for topical remedies as well as for aromatherapy. You can get a great selection of essential oils and pre-made remedies from Earth Solutions. I have a few of their products myself. You can also make your own oils, which I have tried before. Here are a few of my favorites below.

Lavender Oil– Helps to relieve stress, can help with sleeping.

Neem Oil-Can help with skin irritations and oral hygiene as well as a natural insect repellant.

Clove Oil– Can help numb your gums during a toothache.
